Had an awesome lunch and coffee. I felt the toilet was a bit untidy. But they treat us well and the Onion rings were very good.

This is a nice little bar/restaurant. Food was great and was served quickly.

The service and food had always been excellent. The last time there I had fish, which was great. Always eat there when visiting Ste Genevieve.

Very historical and fun vibe! The staff is friendly and I had some chili and a glass of 🍷, very tasty! Going back again before I leave town!

I’d like to start out by saying the meal and service was great. What was not so great was the large group seated by us. The entire time they were creating an extremely childish scene. It went on the entire hour we were there and I doubt it stopped when we left. It’s very hard to enjoy a warm cooked meal with a bunch degenerates yelling at the young lady trying to serve them. Grow the F up Carol Dennison. The food and drinks were just as good as the menu sounded. My recommendation would be to try the gizzards with the German fries, and end it off with a homemade pie.

Service was fair to poor but the onion rings were great. However, my husband ordered a steak medium rare & told the waitress if there was a question about the doneness then go rare. His steak came out well done. We brought it to the waitress attention & she said "well that's what happens when it sits on a hot ceramic plate". I told her I don't care about the plate but u guaranteed the steak would be cooked correctly & it was far from correct. $19.95 incorrect. I would not go back!

Fabulous. Had dinner there tonight with a group of six. Six or more usually means you’re seated upstairs where there’s more room. We were dining with two other very large groups and the young ladies waiting on everyone were on top of it big time. It’s perfect to enjoy the best onion rings you’ve ever had along with conversation while you wait for the entrees. Our daughter has an egg allergy and the server was amazing at helping her decide what she could eat from the kids menu. Catfish, gizzards, chicken...all phenomenal. A Ste. Genevieve treasure. Always worth that special drive down there!

It was busy, but we got our food quickly. The meal was as expected. The coconut pie, their best seller was not as good as hoped for.

If I could rate just the onion rings, I would give SIX stars. They are housemade, hot, and delicious. Other food was okay, but nothing exciting or special. Love, love, love the beautiful antique bar back.

The food was really good. We both had the Chopped Steak and it was really tender and tasty. The service was good and quick. Would definitely recommend.

Classic, little small town bar with decent character. Lots of kind of creepy clown pictures on the walls though. The bar itself is old and pretty cool. We were there at a weird time, mid afternoon on a Wednesday, and were literally the only people in the place. I assume the place gets a decent crowd on weekend nights. Service and food was good. I got the fried pork something. Very reasonable prices. Recommend anyone in town to pop in.

A fun place. Full of atmosphere.The food was good, but not great. My baked potato was cooked, but barely warm enough to melt the butter. The margarita was horrible. No one thought to ask me why I was ordering another drink and leaving behind a half-way full drink.When we were in line to pay, the gentleman at the checkout kept us waiting quite a awhile while he chatted with a customer/friend. Seriously. You guys can catch up another time.

Great place. Cozy and comfortable. Great home made onion rings! Also had Chicken Alfredo which was full of flavor. Ordered the coconut cream pie. Next time I'll get peach pie. Not very coconutyy at all.

Great place good food

Every once in a while I get to enjoy a last minute lunch date with my boyfriend and we often pick Anvil because we have such a good lunch there. I never have any complaints about the food! My favs are the onion rings, fried mushrooms, liver dumplings and most definitely the mushroom burger!! Usually good service (occasionally slow but not usually) as well. It is a little pricey compared to most places in town ($35 for our lunch: 2 burgers and an appetizer) and I hate that they don't have Diet Dr Pepper but we continue to go back because it IS good food!!

Came in with a party of 17 and said it was family style for this many people. Family style means that you keep getting food until we are done eating. They said we could only have one store bought roll for each person. They were ice cold! They wouldn't give us more rolls. They said each person gets 2 pieces of chicken. They didn't say any of this when we made the reservation. Some of us didn't get any chicken. There wasn't enough for anyone for 2. And they refused to make more and make it right. The roast beef was cold and tuff. Asked for horseradish sauce and never received it. Both waitresses had an attitude. The manager came to the table and came to talk to the table. So he only offered dessert enough for half the table. Really!! The manager was rude. We sat there for 20 mins and our table still isn't bussed. This is the worst service ever.

Absolutely AMAZING Onion Rings! (I already ate them all-oops.)They are so full of flavor, but better than carnival food (as comparison), very light batter without the greasy mess! Just really good, light and flavorful Onion Rings!The bacon cheeseburger was good, definitely fresh made & the Anvil Club was as good as any Club sandwich I’ve had. Now, The coup de grace to my taste buds was the Coconut Cream Pie! Tallest meringue I’ve ever seen, sweet, yet fluffy & light! Did I mention, YUMMY!?!

Cute restaurant and bar with great ambiance -- beautiful hardwood floors, rough brick, and old wallpaper give it a distinctive charm. (There are more clowns than I usually like!) That said, the service was good as was the food. Good match for this quaint little town.

This was a great find after a day spent hiking at nearby Hawn State Park. The food selections were varied, the portions generous, and the taste was outstanding if you are looking for comfort food.Just don't be put off by the creepy clown decor! LOL

Make this a destination place to stop! The food and spirits are top notch! This place works well for all group sizes. We always end up with a large group so we sit upstairs. They treat us very well with fast, efficient, and welcoming service. The prices are reasonable as well.

Blatant laziness in food preparation, subtle racist undertones towards customers you could not pay me to eat there again. Who serves kraft macaroni and cheese at a restaurant ? It was super obvious add some flare perhaps also add seasoning to the food. Don’t judge people by the color of their skin or the company their with, and if you’re a manager and you’re reading this yes it did happen and like I said, subtle. Also never dictate where a customer can sit then have people come in shortly after with the same amount of party members and tell them it okay to sit wherever they like again disrespectful. Just poor customer service all around. i have had better at chow hall at least they try there was no effort in the restaurant in my opinion. It needs help and needs work.

The service was friendly and upbeat. My son and I ordered appetizers, entrees, and drinks. Everything was cooked perfectly. I am normally disappointed whenever I order French Onion Soup, very few restaurants get it right, but this time was different. Job Well Done!!! The fried appetizer platter was not greasy and perfectly cooked. Very Happy

Beautiful location and atmosphere. Seated quickly and the wait staff were all good. We had the onion rings to start, which were good. Food was out quickly and was all good. My husband really liked the ribeye. I had the fish sandwich and it was a fish square which was just ok. The German potatoes were amazing as was the triple layer chocolate cake.
